It’s Evil to be Stupid

I’ve come to the belief that stupidity is a direct product of evil. I’ve seen so many people who don’t have a true mental impairment who seem so dumb I think there’s no way they believe abc or can’t understand xyz, it has to be an act or they are just evil. However, now I believe that great stupidity is because of great evil. There are also otherwise intelligent people, sometimes even those I consider to be great minds, who have blind spots in reasoning  for things that are very simple…It seems that in an attempt to justify their actions people often create illogical ideas and concepts or adopt them from others. They grasp on to what allows them to maintain a valuable image of themselves. This has ripple effects and creates inconsistencies in their general thinking and reasoning across other areas.

What is called cognitive dissonance is in effect deceiving oneself about what is truth and the nature of reality in order to avoid internal conflict. Cognitive dissonance can affect everyone to varying degrees and create blind spots. However, it seems the more wicked a person’s actions, the more it manifests and the more distorted their overall view of reality becomes.. even outside of moral issues. I see many instances where a person or a group of people have beliefs that are not only illogical on the surface but do not serve them other than being a building block for some grander justification of evil.

Even in writing this, I feel internal conflict calling  things evil or morally wrong because of conditioning that say’s “Who’s to say what’s right or wrong? What’s wrong for you may be right for someone else. There’s no objective truth. What’s true to me may not be true to you” etc. Accepting that you’re wrong about something is one of the hardest things to do. So much so, that many people will say they have no regrets even when they have done horrible things that greatly harmed themselves.

In the same way that lies snowball, justifications snowball whether internally or externally. It may be from a lack of courage to stand up against social pressure or a strong desire to do something one knows to be wrong and that has inherent shame attached. Whatever the reason, once one begins lying to themself to eliminate guilt or eliminate shame or unjustifiably aggrandize themself, intelligence also begins to suffer because the building blocks for their internal map of reality are flawed.

A popular meme was “Staying Delulu is the Solulu.” Delusional is defined as believing things that are not true or real. One definition of stupid is: Unintelligent: Slow to learn, understand, or think clearly. Stupidity and delusion are closely related. Many times, the most evil people are also the most delusional. If we attempt to create a mental picture of the world where we can do no wrong regardless of impact or consequences, we damage ourselves mentally. I think this is also related to the rise in people being heavily medicated for mental health issues and the general push to take mental health more seriously. People are twisting their brains into knots with their stupidity and delusions.

The prevention and the cure for stupidity for any and everyone is to do what we know to be right, love the truth and seek it earnestly. To not be stupid, we must be willing to admit when we’re wrong, correct our behavior, and correct our thinking.
